Good Morning, fellow Leader 🚀

Your contribution is important for us writers. The working landscape has changed a lot since the pandemic. New collaboration methods have been dramatically changing how we address work with colleagues and projects in general. Leading a physical meeting was a craft in its own right, and today, online meetings have become the new norm. Even with the team in the office space, people often prefer to join an online meeting rather than physically moving to a meeting room. For this topic, I am happy to invite my good friend Simone to read what he has in store for us. Without further ado, Simone, over to you:
I still remember the first time I said “I’m sorry, I was in a meeting”. It was 15 years ago, and meetings were still in person; all the people involved were sitting around the same table. I also clearly remember my very first meeting with a customer, at their headquarters. What’s still vivid in my mind is the feeling that the customer was clearly lying while speaking. Their body language and gestures were in contrast with their words, and in a relatively short time I started refining my ability to “read the room.” Far from being an expert, of course, but some dynamics are the same regardless of the type of relationship you have with the person in front of you.
Fast forward a few years: everything changed, and we started moving to hybrid or fully remote meetings, where the rules were completely different. I tried to do the same, always with the goal of getting the most out of every meeting.
I’ve collected my experience and a few tips in the post below. Hope you enjoy it.
Back to me!
While preparing today’s edition with Simone, I realized I had little literature written about this subject. It was a great opportunity to review some of the topics related to online meetings: the 30-minute call phenomenon, the meeting as a team event, whether we should have cameras on or off, etc. A brand new article is available below.
It is always a pleasure to collaborate with
